Skulls for Breakfast

       Do ever get bored with your breakfast, and wish there was a way to make it more exciting, more creative, more...morbid?  This egg mold will make your breakfast into a macabre meal. The silicone mold sits right in your frying pan, and the eggs cook inside the skull. Serve a unique treat to your gothic partner, or surprise your kids with the coolest breakfast ever!

These sort of molds can be tricky to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. You could probably also use it for pancakes!

The Poison Garden

Most of the time you know when you are in danger, like when a bear is charging at you or someone is following you down a dark street. But did you know there are deadly killers hidden right under your feet?
Some plants and flowers may look innocent but can kill you with a taste or even a touch.
The Poison Garden has gathered many of these plants together to show and teach us about these fascinating species. Situated within the Alnwick gardens in Northumberland, England, the section is guarded by imposing black metal gates that read "These Plants Can Kill". Created by the Duchess of Northumberland, it is inspired by a legendary apothecary garden grown by the Medicis that harbored not only medicinal herbs but deadly ones that proved useful in poisoning their enemies.

Some of the plants in the Poison garden include poison hemlock, deadly nightshade, black henbane, and the deceivingly pretty common foxglove. There are about 100 other plants to view, some locked behind their own cages for your own safety!

Morbid/ Evil Taxidermy

  Perhaps you've stumbled into a curio shop, second hand store or dusty antique shop - you find yourself frozen by what you see before you. In front of you is Taxidermy from hell! Someone has taken apart and reassembled a rabbit and created a visage of evil, an art piece which pays homage to Easter and somehow includes a crucified rabbit and a miniature Ouija board. You want to speak but words won't form. A primal instinct tells you this is all wrong and you should turn around run. Instead you reach forward and look for a price tag. Can I possibly take this home and display this?

  Much of these weirdly morbid creations have found their way to a website which has an obsessive need to collect these Frankenstein Taxidermy creations. The web site does not come with a warning but it's my suggestion to not view these images just prior to retiring to bed for the evening. Some of these creations are quite disturbing!

Morbid Sanctuary Blog Launches!

Welcome to the party! Come one, come all! 

Morbid Sanctuary is proud to launch this blog as a byproduct of the creative minds of ArwenDesigns and MaxxArtist. This blog will highlight artists, writers and creative types with a penchant for the morbid. We will also pass on informative tidbits on galleries, museums and morbid moments in history you won't want to miss.

On day one of the new blog we would remiss if we did not mention a great Kickstarter that Paula, founder and artistic mind behind ArwenDesigns is directly involved with. It's the Kickstarter for Clockwork Phoenix 5 an anthology of which Paula has illustrated the cover.
